Of the tunes that follow, some are silly, some are serious, some just…..well….have the name MOM, MOTHER, MAMA in the title…we thought they said something about our Mothers.
Sad news on MOM’s day….Rock progenitor LITTLE RICHARD passed away yesterday, 87….his influence on Rock-n-Roll indelible….Often said he was “the Originator, you can only have one Originator”….a couple of turns from a Greatest Hits Comp…Aren’t they all?

IAN WHITCOMB loves his Mum….he sings so… A Swiss army knife of Entertainment…..Irish Boarding School, Piano at young age, Writing tunes, part of British Invasion with hit “You Turn Me On”, 1965 by BLUESVILLE, Ukulele strumming, American Bandstand & Shindig TV appears, Accordion too, Produces MAE WEST (yes her) album Great Balls of Fire (it’s a real thing), Writes several top selling books about music, Plays live music for Theater, Interweb Radio DJ on LUXURIAMUSIC.com, Passes away in April this year, 78, sad.

Philly Soul Time with THE INTRUDERS…under the tutelage of KENNY GAMBLE & LEON HUFF, THE INTRUDERS helped start what we all know as The Sound of Philadelphia. More on The Philly sound in a few days, stay tuned. Much turmoil played out with THE INTRUDERS, personnel changes were the norm, but G&H kept writing/producing these Kats…. HANK’s here, worryin’ ‘bout his Ma…HANK WILLIAMS…one of a kind, one of musiclands most revered artists, “THE KING OF COUNTRY MUSIC”. But this Kat had his probs, Spina Bifida back = pills also professional booze hound. Had a band, had a lot of trouble on the road, had a Radio show, had a lot of trouble there too. Dec.31, 1952, on the bad weather drive to New Years Day concert, Canton, South of Mitten, …MR. WILLIAMS, back seat, is writing but feels awful….Driver keeps drivin’…its quiet in the back…Driver stops for fuel, sees Mr. W…rigor’d…died at 29 too much booze/prescrip drugs, heart blew up…

This ‘Bama family hitch-hiked to Central Cali, 1933, the whole family….lots a kids, so a band was forecast…mid ‘30’s into late ‘57, Four Bros. & Sis….a Hillbilly Partridge Family….without the paisley….‘39 State Fair announces the MADDOX BROTHERS & ROSE best Hillbilly band in the State…
with “Mama Says It’s Naughty” off the Never A Pal Like Mother compilation, fine record, go buy….
PETUNIA up with a sad loverly tune about Mother….Love this Kat, made two records with him….total talent…from the Inside of You album, “Oh My Mother”. Recorded in Vancouver BC 2013, realized 2014.
THE VOICE! such strength!, such lung capacity!….CLAUDIO VILLA…the Kat was the bees knees…recorded over 3000 songs, sold over 45 million records, but was largely unknown in the USofA until Mr. STANLEY TUCCI & Mr. CAMPBELL SCOTT produced/directed The Big Night flick (find & watch, that’s an order)…thank you gentlemen…. We will in later days have an entire day about Mr. VILLA, stay tuned….

Kicking it up a few decibels with FAT MIKE’s offshoot Punk Coverband…. ME FIRST & THE GIMME GIMMES….members SPIKE CLAWSON (SWINGIN’ UDDERS), JOEY CAPE & DAVE RAUN (LAGWAGON), & FAT MIKE (NOFX) are a lot of fun….only covers in a punk sauce….
