Just for fun at the end of a recording session, FRIJID PINK record a Psyched out, Fuzzed up version of the folk traditional tune “House of the Rising Sun”…BINGO! Goes to number one in 1970….Hi, welcome to the club!…..but not much after that, personnel changes galore, they are still trying as we write this.

DEEEtroit, Motor City, mid-60s, HOT RODs were the thing, street racing was the thing….big power, Kool Hoopties….Music reflected this…THE RIPCORDS, BEACH BOYS, JAN & DEAN. The Big 3 Auto giants joined in, commissioning bands to produce Hot Rod music…Paul Revere & The Raiders did “SS396” for Chevy, 1967….Here’s Pontiac’s test turn tune from THE TIGERS, “Geeto Tiger” (GTO Tiger really, but it had to rhyme?). Promoting the 1965 GTO (what a machine!). Even the Single’s artwork was to promote the Car. GO! TIGER GO!
This tune is taken off a fine Comp called Bubbling Under Vol.2 from Rare Rockin’ Records, Sydney, OZ.
We didn’t win so now we’re gonna cry…..with DOROTHY BERRY….1957 marries HS sweety RICHARD BERRY, who?…”…whoa bebbay, we gotta go…” still nothing? ”Louie Louie”, hello…ten years in, marriage hits skidsville, divorce, joins THE IDOLS, short lived, goes solo, West Coast, a few singles…becomes a RAELETTE BG singer for RAY CHARLES….

Powerhouse Producer/Writer LEE HAZLEWOOD is next with a guest ANN-MARGRET, yep her, Kitten Galore! Known to some as the femme ELVIS…grrrrrrr…..LEE HAZLEWOOD hung out with a lot of Kool Kats (DUANE EDDY) & Kittens (NANCY SINATRA)…known as the father of Cowboy Psychedelia…that’s a thing. Did pretty good for the son of an Okie Oil Man…
Here’s “Only Mama That’ll Walk The Line” with the luscious ANN-MARGRET From The Cowboy & The Lady album…
GOLDBERG’s here, wants your attention…1966 forms THE SHAMBLES in Minneapolis, Cold State….pretty good band, talented, unusual for the times they play original tunes, not covers…. BARRY THOMAS GOLDBERG is still kicking the live show, touring…the whole kit…

here’s “Life Ain’t Fair & The World Is Mean” from the High Top Mountain LP.
We started today in weirdsville & we’ll end there too….from Austin, Oil-State. We witness two from THE GHOST WHITE SHIVERS…this is a “hokum” band…part ragtime, jug band, vaudeville, music with a comedy flare…totally fun….took in a show a few back at the now boarded RED 7 club…veddy Kool show…chatted up the 7 foot, lead singer/banjo man in a suit 3 sizes too small (Lurch came to mind)….He said they like it dark & on sour notes….indeed they do.
First we offer “White Trash Fast Food”. then “Sweet Banana” both from the Nobody Loves You album…fine work here, check out their site & buy.
All for today……..
Thanks for listening, until tomorrow.
