Time for a trip to ROCKABILLY! Hotrods, Enchantressei & Muscle Boys, Tatts, Cuffed Jeans & Poodle Skirts, Slick Hairdoos(& Hairdon’ts), Music, Music, Music! VVVVVRRRROOOOOMMMM! Let’s Go Daddio!

Rockabilly Music/Culture gestates in the late 40’s after WWII, BOOGIE WOOGIE? bubs it’s KOOOOL…TENNESSEE EARNIE FORD, THE MADDOX BROTHERS & ROSE, BOB WILLIS & HIS PLAYBOYS, JOHNNIE BURNETT among a host of others started the ruckus…taking older Blues, Western Swing, R&B, & Hillbilly music then churning it into a speed blender…voila Rockabilly. Faster beats makes toes tap, then shimmy shakin’, then smooching’(hopefully).

Outlaw! Blasphemer! Devil’s Sex Music!… But MOM we gotta dance! The “Culture” made a rampant mess of the “quo” in the 1950s….the big three showed up & had something to say. CASH, “I Walk The Line”, PRESLEY,“Heartbreak Hotel”, PERKINS, “Blues Suede Shoes” (also EP) Need we say more? We think not.

A mess it was, baby ROCK-N-ROLL was squirming’ to get out, ROCKABILLY elbowing for space too…much of this mess due to the likes of JERRY LEE LEWIS, BILL HALEY, CHUCK BERRY…music was swerving’…split into two factions near the end of the ‘50s as ROCK-N-ROLL became “the thing”….Rockabilly became the bad boy, (we love bad boys). All that leather & gasoline….naughty naughty.

Kittens jumped in too…WANDA JACKSON, JANIS MARTIN, JO ANN CAMPBELL(aka Female Elvis) made funtimes for the dance floor.

ROCKABILLY continually morphs, careening (nothing like a good careen) thru many divergent paths, PSYCHOBILLY, HORRORBILLY, GLAMBILLY, GOTHABILLY, some move toward PUNK & others to SURF…the beats go faster…. triple slap that Bass! It’s a mosh pit in there.

Fandome in this branch of the music tree is phenomenal! Tribal, Fun seeking, Kool. A global family with…tatts. ROCKABILLY shows are like no other, music, fashion, cars, people watching is amazing.

Time to tap toes & shake some shimmies…
