Mid-80s this Reporter had the chance to work on a ground breaking television program, MAX HEADROOM……the title was actually 20 Minutes Into The Future, but MAX being MAX wouldn’t stand for it…that is, if he could stand…EGO vs ID…Placed in the not too distant dystopian future, Global Television Networks have control over most of the planet, even more than governments…power of the picture, news appropriation, tech, fame, money, control the masses…sound familiar? Episodes about FAKE WAR NEWS, BABY GROBAGS, BODY BANKS, VU AGE CHURCHES, BLIPVERTS…way ahead of the times & forecasted much of what we have/do today. Also much of the behind the scenes action was cutting the edge……check the show out…DVDs we believe…
During the time of MAX, this reporter, with Reel2Reel machine at the ready, mixed a mixtape representative of the first six episodes…spring 1987…a snapshot of this moment(months of moments), tunes on this cassette reflect the culture & what Television, Fame, Money, Power, can do to one’s soul & life…
